Private AI journal · Closed TestFlight beta
AGATA
A local-first, voice-first iOS journal that turns everyday thoughts into readable entries, reflections and patterns over time.
Project overview
Born during a period of professional transition, AGATA explores how journaling can feel as immediate as a voice note while becoming more valuable over time.
Remove the blank page without losing depth
After the company I worked for became insolvent, conversations with my future co-founder returned to something that had helped us before: journaling. Yet traditional journaling asks for time, routine and confidence. Thoughts instead disappear into voice messages, photos and separate notes, while generic AI tools lack the personal context required for meaningful reflection.
Build a local-first personal context layer
I initiated and built the product end to end, working with my co-founder on product questions and direction. The native SwiftUI experience connects voice capture, notes and images to AI-generated journal entries, Daily Wraps, Insights and Agata Brain. Original journal entries and audio remain local by default; users decide whether to enable cloud sync and AI processing. The current product work focuses on prompt architecture, response quality and a calm UX that makes people want to return.
A working beta with real users
AGATA is available through a closed TestFlight beta with more than 30 users, including five weekly active testers. A 30-person journaling survey informed the product direction. The working ecosystem spans the native iOS app, personal AI context, widget, optional cloud sync, public website and administration tools, and is now moving through bug fixing toward funding and strategic partnerships.
